Rollins Places 12 Student-Athletes on the CSC Academic All-District Team - Rollins College (2024)

GREENWOOD, Ind. (June 26, 2024) –The College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA) announced its 2024 Academic All-District At-Large teams on Tuesday, with 12 Tars receiving the honor of being named to the team. Six women – Caroline Gastonguay and Jorie Alf of women's lacrosse, Carla Alvarez Perez and Elizabeth Kondal of women's golf, and Olivia Prelog and Emily Quezada of women's rowing – along with six men – Mikey Berkman, Jack Johnstone, Benjamin Kopen, Evan Tessler, and Charlie Metz of men's lacrosse, and RJ Glod of men's golf – earned the distinction.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.

Gastonguay, who was also named a First Team All-American by the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse this season, posted a 3.79 GPA as an MBA student. On the field, she tied the program record for goals in a single season with 71 and became the program's career leader in points and goals this year.

Alf, who recorded a 3.93 GPA as a Business Management major, finished the year tied for second on the team with 49 points and third with 35 goals. She also tallied 15 ground balls, 14 assists, and seven caused turnovers for the Tars in 2024.

Alvarez Perez, who was selected to the WGCA All-South Region Team and was named a WGCA Honorable Mention All-American, carries a 3.66 GPA in Communication Studies. The junior earned a pair of top-10 finishes, including a third-place result at the Lynn Invitational.

Kondal, who was also named a WGCA Honorable Mention All-American, holds a 3.61 GPA in Business Management. She finished in the top 10 in each of her first four events this spring, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the World Golf Hall of Fame Invitational.

Prelog, who recently was named a CRCA Second Team All-American, has a 3.69 GPA in Marine Biology. The sophom*ore helped the Varsity 8 boat to runner-up finishes at the FIRA regatta, the SSC Championships, and the Dad Vail regatta.

Quezada, a CRCA Scholar Athlete this year, graduated with a 3.78 GPA in Business Management. She helped the JV8 boat claim silver at FIRA and was in the third-place Varsity 4 B boat at the John Ferris Lanier Sprints.

Berkman, a USILA Third Team All-American this year, wrapped up his MBA degree with a 3.64 GPA. He led the team with 72 points and 43 assists while added 29 goals, 18 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers.

Johnstone, a Third Team All-SSC selection, holds a 3.79 GPA in Business Management. His 45 goals led the team this season and he added four assists, six caused turnovers, and 32 ground balls.

Kopen, who was a First Team All-SSC selection, graduated with a 3.95 GPA in Business Management. He totaled 23 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers to help anchor a defense that allowed less than 10 goals per game.

Tessler, who also was selected to the All-SSC First Team, holds a 3.82 GPA in Business Management. The junior led the team with 55 ground balls and 46 caused turnovers while also contributing a pair of assists.

Metz, who joined Kopen and Tessler on the All-SSC First Team, carries a 3.55 GPA in Business Management. The sophom*ore was a vital two-way player in the midfield, compiling 31 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, four goals, and one assist.

Glod, who posted a 3.64 GPA as a Business Management major, competed in eight tournaments for the Tars and recorded a 74.7 stroke average. His best finish came in October at the Citrus Intercollegiate where he tied for 16th with a two-over 218.

Several of Rollins' All-District selections, including Gastonguay, Alvarez Perez, Kondal, Berkman, Johnstone, Kopen, Tessler, and Metz, will now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by members of CSC. The CSC Academic All-America At-Large teams will be announced in mid-July.
